Experience You Can Count On
Ashleigh Mutcher, Registered Psychologist
When it comes to your health and overall well-being, it’s important to have a knowledgeable professional you can trust. Over the years, I’ve provided therapeutic support to clients throughout Calgary from all walks of life. My expertise covers a broad spectrum of mental health services. Check out my qualification below, and call me today for a consultation.
A unique feature I offer my clients is flexible session length times. This is important because the needs of clients differ in regards to session duration from day to day and from person to person. Sessions usually last between 30 minutes up to 2 hrs and 30 min.
My approach to healing includes the integration of mind and body with a specialized focus on regulation of the nervous system. This is a trauma-informed method of intervention and is based upon an integration of numerous evidence-based models. Additionally, I have training and experience using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in both individual and group settings. I have extensive experience working with youth, adults and athletes in the areas of emotion regulation, communication, conflict and performance psychology.
For the past 13 years I have provided specialized clinical counselling services to individuals and families. I incorporate a relational perspective when working with groups of two or more, drawing from the evidence-based framework of Functional Family Therapy techniques.
I enjoy being a group leader and I have experience facilitating a variety groups using a broad range of formats. These include: process groups, psycho-educational groups, CBT groups, mindfulness groups and more! Depending on the needs arising from clients, the focus of the groups I facilitate varies. There is currently a high demand for support for teenage girls struggling with concerns related to sexuality, ADHD and mood dysregulation (anxiety/depression). For this reason, registration is now open for the upcoming Teen (12-14) and Older Teen Group (15-16) for girls. These groups will provide an opportunity for the girls to connect with one another, find support through friendship, engage in art therapy, learn about healthy relationships and boundaries, explore identity and more! The group topics will evolve week to week based on the needs of the participants and the psycho-educational material will come from models such as CBT and "Seeking Safety." Click on the link below to contact me if you're interested in either of the above mentioned group opportunities! Registration is still open. Groups will start when minimum number of group members has been reached. Location 259 Midpark Way SE.

If you're curious where the name Canary Counselling comes from please check out this video by Author Glenn Doyle Melton. She does a beautiful job of explaining the role of the canary.
This delicate, tiny, sensitive, bright yellow song bird carries with it a promise of joy and new beginnings. The canary serves to remind us that we need to honour our sensitivities and avoid taking on too much toxicity from the environment and those around us.
Someone to walk beside you
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to study psychology. We have all experienced that suffering is a part of what it means to be human and we all need a little help sometimes. My goal as your therapist is to work hard to deeply understand your current struggle and align myself with your goals for healing. I will create an individualized treatment plan to suit your needs and assist you in moving toward the changes you desire. Please contact me to get started today.
